AMERICAN PIE 4: REVEALED
It's hard to believe it's been over 10 years since 'American Pie' helped bring back the raunchy R-rated sex comedy and then threatened to kill it all over again with a series of sub-par sequels and direct-to-video spin-offs, but the first film debuted back in 1999. You know what that means? It's time for a 10-year class reunion.
Universal is set to get everyone back together for 'American Reunion,' a new comedy that reunites the cast of the original and finds out what everyone's been up to since finishing school and becoming grown-ups. What's Playing has the inside scoop on what we can expect from the script.
The site got a look at the story, penned by 'Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle'scribes Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, and they say that the screenplay delivers the R-rated laughs the series is known for as well as the heart that's been missing since the first entry. Hit the jump for details.
The new installment finds everyone returning to East Great Falls for their 10-year high school reunion, made possible thanks to the wonders of Facebook. In a shocking twist, they'll all come to realize they're not teenagers anymore and try to make sense of their lives.
Here's a quick rundown on what some of your favorite characters have been up to since graduation (and the sequels):
• Oz (Chris Klein) became a contestant on a show not unlike 'Dancing With the Stars' and lives in a huge mansion. He's the guy who comes home after making it big.
• Stifler (Sean William Scott), on the other hand, hasn't done as well post–high school. He's working as a temp for a boss who refers to him as "his bitch" and isn't doing so hot with the ladies.
• Jim (Jason Biggs) and Michelle (Alyson Hannigan) are still married. Jim's an Internet sensation thanks to his encounter with Nadia (Shannon Elizabeth) back in the first film. Apparently, there could be trouble in marital paradise, as the young girl next door (now all grown up) has a little thing for our boy Jim.
Eugene Levy, Biggs, and Scott have all agreed to return, but What's Playing adds that the majority of the original cast have parts written in the script (though last we heard they were in talks, but hadn't signed on yet) -- which is great news for Tara Reid fans! Hurwitz and Schlossberg are set to begin shooting 'American Reunion' this month.
